My last pair of wellingtons had definitely seen better days and I only had them about a year, so it was time to purchase a new pair.  However, I wanted to make sure that the next ones would be a lot more practically suited to the lifestyle that comes with working with horses, day in and day out.  So on to the internet I went and began my search – looking at different brands and styles but couldn’t make up my mind as to which ones to choose as they all had their negatives.

It was roughly a week later when I was approached by Rachel, the Founder of ‘Rudds Wellies’, a company based in Devon and asked if I would try out a pair of her neoprene lined wellington boots called ‘Riding Rudds’.  I hadn’t heard of the brand beforehand as it had only recently been created, however after having a look at the website and the amount of research that had gone into the wellies I was very excited to get a pair.

One major problem I have always come across with wellies is the splitting of the boots and then obviously, the leaking that follows this.  Rudds however are made from non-split natural rubber which is formulated to resist urine and manure – perfect for mucking out!!    From the moment I opened the box and got them out, I knew that they were just what I needed. They also have a 3mm neoprene lining to keep the feet warm and dry and are super comfy and light. Another great innovation is the adjustable calf width which doesn’t restrict this product from being available to only one size of person.

There are many features to the Riding Rudd that make it so ideal for the country lifestyle, one of the first things I loved about the boots which I hadn’t come across before were the reflective strips that are at the back.  At home, we have some of our turnout paddocks the other side of our country lane and especially in the winter when it gets dark so early on this will really help with road safety.

I have had my Rudds for a couple of months now and have done everything in them from walking the dogs, mucking out and all yard duties, walking the cross-country courses in all weathers and are so impressed by them.  I would definitely recommend these to anyone in need of a proper pair of wellies.  There is also a 12-month non-split guarantee included but I have full confidence I will be wearing this same pair for a very long time!

If you would like to have a further look at the ‘Riding Rudds’ and the many other features that they have, please visit their website www.ruddswellies.co.uk.

A big thank you to all those photographers that have allowed me to use their photographs on my new site.  They have recorded my seasons over the years and made me smile (when I am not concentrating on a fence that is)!  The links to their respective websites, if available, can be found below:-
