Abi Boulton is a 27 year old event rider based at her home in Staffordshire.Abi has always loved participating in all kinds of sports from a very young age; aiming to perform her absolute best in each and every one. However, growing up surrounded by horses, it was inevitable that riding became her main passion.
Before she started eventing Abi mainly competed in working hunter pony classes with the BSPS. Her last few years in showing consisted of bringing on 'Pebbly Pipe Dream' a 5 year old 14hh pony. Abi had him for a total of about 4 years and in her last year managed to qualify and successfully compete at the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in 2010. It was there that Abi ended her time riding working hunter ponies on a high; winning the 14hh WHP class and later going WHP Champion - returning on the Sunday to take the Dick Saunders Supreme Champion title; making history by being the first working hunter pony to do so and a double page spread in Horse & Hound!
It was in 2011 that Abi began focusing on eventing with her new horse Tilston Tic Toc and it was apparent from their first season together that this partnership was something special. Five years on and the two have made their way up through the grades to reach an amazing achievement of completing their first CCI4* at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials in 2015! Debuting at just 20 years of age, Abi was the youngest to complete that year and best under 25, the same applied for 2016!
Abi's love for horses and this sport is undeniable, she has met many set-backs through injury and disappointment but comes back even more determined and motivated to prove her deserved place amongst the big boys. Abi is looking forward to the 2021 season with her horses.
The reasoning behind the name Tic Toc Eventing is because of the amazing journey Abi has/is having with Ben (Tilston Tic Toc). Whatever happens, he is the one that took her from a 14hh pony to riding some amazing cross country tracks and got her to where she is today.
Highlights in her career include:
Becoming Dick Saunders Supreme Champion in 2010
Being a member of the winning Midlands team at Weston Park International Horse Trials CCIJ* and 12th individual
Being long listed for the Junior Europeans in 2012
Competing in her first CIC3* at the age of 18
In 2014 competing in my first CCI3* at Blair Castle after suffering a back injury earlier in the season.
Being long listed for the U21 Young Rider European team in 2015
Debuting at Burghley in the CCI4* on Tilston Tic Toc with a clear round cross country.
Youngest to complete Burghley 2015 & 2016.
Ambitions for the near future:
Continue to compete successfully at the highest levels with Tilston Tic Toc
Progressing other team horses through the levels
